Computer information technology

Computer information technology is creating a revolution in today's schools. The typical classroom in the early 21st century will be linked to the information superhighway, which facilitates access to educational resources around the globe. Social interaction between and among students, teachers, parents, schools, and communities will undergo significant changes. As a result, the educational profession is finding itself challenged as never before to meet the demands of the information age.
Connecting all of America's public elementary and secondary schools to the information superhighway requires strong leadership, foresight, and perseverance. The technology and infrastructure exist for this goal and cost is not a significant factor in its achievement. Evans et al. (1996) estimate that about 1.3 percent of the nation's K-12 public school budget is currently spent on computing resources and that connecting schools to the information superhighway would represent less than 4 percent of future budgets, even during peak years of spending (p. 1). The challenge comes in setting priorities, sharing visions, ensuring that the teaching staff has the appropriate training and confidence, and obtaining quality computer-related curriculum materials. Time is a significant factor in this respect. Bringing all the nation's schools online is a multiyear process that will take perhaps as long as a decade to complete. Enough flexibility must be instilled in the process so that indivi

The Effects of Tourism on Dubai

Ten years ago, if you had asked someone in Paris to show you Dubai on a world map, it is possible that they would not have known where it was. Today, however, things are different. Dubai is now considered an international tourist hot spot, attracting millions of visitors each year. This success, which is largely the result of careful marketing, has resulted in some dramatic changes in Duabi.

One of the main reasons for the recent increase in tourism is that Dubai has launched a massive tourism campaign* in the overseas media*. The Dubai tourism industry has shown on world televsion images of falcons hunting in the desert and tourists relaxing on the Burj Al Arab beaches. These stunning pictures have created a lot of interest amongst foreigners looking for a luxury beach holiday in an exotic land. It has resulted in more and more tourists coming to Dubai each year.

This increase in tourism has brought with it many changes. One of the most important effects is on the local economy. The tourist dollar ($) is now a significant* part of the local economy; something which is very important when we think about the uncertain future of income from oil. As a result of this increase in tourist numbers, not only are more and more hotels being built, but there are also many new apartment blocks being built for foreigners who want to visit for longer than a short holiday. These buildings are changing the face of Dubai.

In summary, Dubai's tourism boom* has resulted from a successful marketing campaign, and it has resulted in a dramatic change in the skyline and shoreline* of Dubai. If it continues like this, who knows what the Dubai of 2015 will look like.

Apple's ‘cheap’ iPhone 5 Mini for India, China: analyst

According to a note that Munster has sent out to investors, Apple plans to build a sub-$200 (Dh730) handset to build its market share in India and China where network carriers are not prepared to subsidise handset costs in order to tie potential customers into long-term contracts.

Munster is a managing director at Piper Jaffray, specialising in Internet, and his coverage includes Apple, Google, Yahoo!, Amazon, Baidu, and MercadoLibre.

Apple’s premium pricing has meant that its iPhone has lost market share to Android-based devices, particularly to the Samsung Galaxy S3. With new Windows-based competition emerging in the shape of the reasonably-priced Nokia Lumia 920, it is perhaps time for Apple to launch an entry-level model of its popular smartphone, especially for price-competitive Asian and African markets.

According to the latest smartphone sales data published by Gartner, Android currently accounts for over 70 per cent of the world smartphone market while Apple has less than a 15 per cent share.

In addition, with the Asia-Pacific region accounting for more than 60 per cent of the world’s population, and 53 per cent of worldwide smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2012, ignoring the region will take its toll on device manufacturers.

With a lower GDP per capita in most of the Asian countries, Apple’s products have gained traction with only a small percentage of elite customers. If and when Apple releases an entry-level, ‘cheap’ iPhone, it should be a big hit among the younger customers although the brand’s elitist image may suffer irreparable damage in some of the Western markets.

Weddings in the UAE

Getting married in Dubai or Abu Dhabi can be a tall order and difficult to arrange - but it is very different to a UAE National getting married. The following is a personal account written by non-emirati attending an Emirati wedding.

As well as being glamorous occasions, wedding ceremonies in the Emirati tradition can be a lovely cultural experience for the outsider. In most eastern countries, wedding celebrations usually last for a week and the run up to the wedding week can be both exciting and tiring for the bride. Arab women regardless of getting married or not, always take pride in their appearance even if, for most part of the day they are covered with their abayas (cloak) and shelas (headscarf). Regular trips to the salon will include treatments for the face and body and trials on hair and makeup. The bride is also well looked after by her family and encouraged to eat the right foods and maintain a good weight.

Laylat al Henna

During the wedding week, gatherings can take place at both the bride and groom’s relatives’ places. However it is uncommon for both families to socialize together before the big day. The prelude of the wedding celebration for the bride is the Ladies or Henna Party traditionally called Laylat al Henna. Here, all the bride’s female relatives and friends are invited to an evening of music, dancing and sumptuous food and of course henna. This usually takes place a day or two before the actual wedding day and is normally held at the bride’s parents home. Most emirati females and muslim females who attend are normally very excited as it is a chance for them to really dress up and show their friends their latest outfits. At the Ladies party, the bride enters after all the female guests have arrived. Her arrival is marked with loud instruments such as drums, shakers, tambourines beating in unison and girls making a strange cheering noise with their hand cupped over their mouths. The bride is brought in with a close family member i.e. her sister or female cousin and may be covered with a beautiful cloth. Once in the middle of the room, her cloth is removed and she starts dancing with the crowd. A band will start singing and playing music and the atmosphere is just energetic. After a few minutes she is taken to her corner and seated on beautiful cushions and throws. At this point, family members in turn go to the bride and bless her and may sometimes give gifts of jewelry and money. Photos are also taken. The henna artist begins to decorate the bride’s hands up till the elbow and the entire feet. The henna appears black brown and will dry after a couple of hours, however the bride cannot remove the henna until the next morning as it is believed the longer it is kept the darker the colour will turn out. Another henna tale is said to believe the darker the henna is on the bride’s skin the more her new mother in law likes her! During the bride’s henna application, guests take pictures with the bride and start eating followed by more dancing and loud music before ending the night.

The Wedding Day

The Nikah which is the official religious ceremony takes place first, attended only by family. Emirati wedding receptions are almost always segregated for men and women. They can be held at one of the custom built wedding halls or at an expensive hotel. The wedding halls are designed in such a way that two halls of the same size can accommodate an equal amount of men and women in each. Sometimes a big screen is used in the ladies hall to display the ceremony taking place in the men’s hall. Because the women may not wear abaya and shela, filming of the festivities in the ladies hall is not permitted. During a wedding function, wearing abaya and shela is for non family members. Some family members may omit wearing shela for this special occasion but wear it when male guests enter their part of the hall. Female guests greet each other by kissing one side of the cheek 4 times and make their way to a table. In some weddings, a table plan may be drawn up but most weddings are free seating. Starters consisting of traditional Arabic food are served such as olives, hummous, tabbouleh, salad and bread. The bride enters. The usual tradition is for the bride to enter on her own with a member of her family and her husband enters later on. However, some weddings have changed custom and bride can enter together with husband. This part of the ceremony will be video recorded therefore shelas are worn but not the bride if she wishes. The husband will drop his bride to the front stage, sits for photographs and then leaves to his hall. At this point, ladies from the bride’s family greet the bride and music begins. The ladies all start dancing in their lavish colourful attire. Female friends can also join in the dancing or dance around the tables. After some time, an announcement is made that the groom will be entering with his male family members. Female guests who wish to cover themselves do this now. A loud procession of males playing instruments such as customary drums enter, the groom is in the middle and beside him his immediate family members all carrying traditional sticks which they dance with. The sticks were also historically used as a means of defense. The whole procession sequence looks impressive and well timed. At this point the bride is instructed to cover her hair and pictures are taken. After the photos, men leave quietly and the ladies party resumes with music and dinner being served.

UAE Marriage Fund

This was set up in 1992 by His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nayan to control spending on wedding celebrations. According to a leading exhibition company the average cost of a wedding in the UAE can amount to DHS300,000 which is just over $81,000. Additionally UAE’s rapid economic growth has led to pressure of giving large dowries which in turn has discouraged many UAE national men to marry emirati women and seek non- emirati wives. This is of concern to the government as children are being born to mothers not well integrated into traditional UAE life. The fund provides from DHS60,000 – 100,000 depending on an individual’s salary situation. An individual earning a good salary may not receive the full grant. The UAE government has also built special wedding halls to avoid expensive hotel costs. The Board of Directors for the Marriage Fund states that the Groom must reach a minimum age of 21 and the Bride, 18 in order for the young to marry at a suitable age. Additionally, funding priority is given

Ain Al Faida, Al Ain

The quiet but beautiful city of Al Ain has been making news lately with the anticipated opening of its refurbished Ain Al Faida Resort. The family resort which was built over 30 years ago, boasts acres of lush gardens , a mosque and an area for boats. Pretty chalets, rich in local architecture have been a focal point and long project of renovation to attract new visitors from around the UAE and further to visit the sometimes ignored ‘Oasis City of Al Ain’. The One to One Hotel group have taken this project under their wing and describe it as ‘Accentuating Authenticity: Renovating historical sites to create timeless luxury destinations’.

After a five year closure, Ain Al Faida has now completed its renovation project and is due to open on New Years Eve and attract new visitors, especially those with families and also couples who want to escape the loud metropolis of Dubai and Abu Dhabi city.

The renovation project has been careful to keep the original character and structure of the resort intact but also modernise and expand the surrounding areas. The resort is expected to be a four star property and will boast 26 boutique style rooms and 57 one and two bed villas. There will be extensive leisure activities for the family such as tennis courts, basketball, football pitches, pedalos on the lake and quad biking and cycling. Pony and camel riding and also huge indoor and outdoor play areas for children.

It is hoped this huge renovation project will boost Al Ain’s tourism and add to the list of already popular attractions in Al Ain such as the popular Wadi Adventure Waterpark, Al Ain National Museum, Al Jahili Fort and the Sheikh Zayed Palace Museum.

Al Ain is in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and distance from Abu Dhabi city to Al Ain is approximately 160km. Distance from Dubai to Al Ain is approximately 120km.

Perfume: Giving Thanks

perfume
It’s so easy to complain about perfume these days. Beautiful materials are banned or restricted; the market pumps out hundreds of cheaply made, mediocre fragrances yearly; many of our favorite old perfumes have been reformulated beyond recognition; perfume advertising is often laughably banal; and more.
But we’re still here, loving perfume. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I’d like to list some of the reasons I’m grateful for fragrance:
First and most important, exploring scent is profoundly rewarding. Before I fell headlong into perfume, I loved the smell of coffee, old leather purses, and lilac bouquets, for example, but I had little appreciation — or awareness, even — of balance and structure in fragrance. I couldn’t luxuriate in how a scent transitions as it ages on skin. I didn’t see how a hint of ugliness throws a perfume’s beauty into relief. Now I know that appreciating perfume has less to do with having a keen sense of smell and being able to pick out individual notes than it does with understanding a perfume’s whole tableau.
Now for something less grand but still gratitude-worthy: travel sizes, sample sets, rollerballs and 30 ml bottles…

 History of the Queen Balqees

BALQEES Fashion & Design

Who is Queen Balqees?

Her father is Alhdah bin Sharhabil, the King of Sheba. Before his death, he recommended the succession of his governance to Balqees saying:
"I saw men, and knew people of virtue, and I know them from their kings, I swear by, that Balqees have the vision, the knowledge, and the dream...”

After the King’s death, Queen Balqees took over and ruled Yemen and followed the Kings of ‘Humier’. Her armies defeated and invaded Babylon, Persia and Iraq and assigned Rulers on them. She went back to Yemen to declare it as the ‘Kingdom of Sheba’.
Balqees Bint Alhdhad bin Sharhabil lived in the City of Sheba and today was known as the City of Marib. She transformed the Kingdom with Courage, Wisdom, and Measure. She restructured the famous Marib Dam, to bring water descending from the East of Sana'a. Had her Palace be designed with three hundred and sixty-windows in such a manner that the sunlight shines everyday from every window throughout the year and called it ‘Palace of Balqees’, which still has repercussions till date. During her reign, she managed to stabilize the Kingdom’s Wealth, Trade & Agriculture, which led the country into prosperity.

BalqeesBalqees is a Queen, a seasoned and strong politician. Along with her strength and power, is a Woman that carries femininity. She takes care of her over all well being and very meticulous of her appearance. As stories confirm it, Queen Balqees is described to have a super natural beauty and unique. She wore exquisite gowns, dresses and robes in pure silk originated from China and India and threads used were from Africa. Every dress was made to be conservative and modest, delicately embellished with decorative sewing, accessories and fine embroideries. Her majestic Crown of Governance was jeweled and decorated with gold and silver.
Queen Balqees Throne or so called Chair of Balqees was in a form of a sofa or appears to be in a form of a bed made of gold, with four lists of all the existing type of stones of Emerald, Zubrgel, Sapphire and Turquoise Yamani, patterned with strands of silver. The Throne was declared by rock Prophet Solomon, peace be upon him; “This Chair is the Throne of the Great Balqees”.
Balqees
The historical legend where Queen Balqees met Prophet Solomon is the main contributing factor that changed the course of her life and her people.
The Holy Quran and the Holy Bible, are the main sources for the story of the Queen Balqees meeting with Prophet Solomon. The Holy Bible brands Balqees as ‘The Queen of Sheba’; ‘Queen named after’ or ‘Queen of the South’, where it further says that the Queen of Sheba visited King Solomon and offered him expensive gifts, as also being reflected in the Holy Quran.

The main Arabic sources mentioning the name Balqees is on the book ‘Al Tejan’ by Ibn Hisham and book ‘Al Eklile’ by Hamedani and the Holy Quran.
Balqees
The story of Queen Balqees where she met and had a union with Prophet Solomon, peace be upon him, in the tenth century BC, is one of the most beautiful stories of the Holy Quran. It is where it unfolded how the Majestic meets the Beauty. Her first meeting with the Prophet of God proves to be one of the most interesting stories and highlights Balqees having a baby boy.
How it all started, the secret on how Prophet Solomon’s battle experience impressed The Queen of Sheba, and other amazing facts, here unfolds…

Balqees, the Queen

One day, as Prophet Solomon usually sits on his Throne, (novels describes it as: Chair of Gold, designed elaborately with Lions and gold background with a peacock spreading its wings majestically in scarlet, while behind, a gold palm tree with clusters of Rubies) Prophet Solomon stares out in the sky and noticed that something is out of ordinary. The sun shines thru a space where a Hoopoe bird should be in its particular place and from there He had known that one of the birds is missing. This event appears as a mystery to Prophet Solomon and guaranteed to kill the bird because of its absence and said;

Verse:
"What is the matter that I see not the hoopoe? Or is he among the absentees? (20) "I will surely punish him with a severe torment, or slaughter him, unless he brings me a clear reason." (21)
Prophet Solomon
Prophet Solomon, peace be upon him, ordered his Falcon to explore and search the Hoopoe. The falcon flew and saw the Hoopoe on his way back and met him half way in the air. They exchanged thoughts and by then, the Hoopoe knew that he is at risk and flies back in to the palace. Prophet Solomon, peace be upon him, said: ‘Where have you been?’
The Hoopoe replied;
Verse:
I have come to you from Saba' (Sheba) with true news. (22) "I found a woman ruling over them", she has been given all things that could be possessed by any ruler of the earth, and she has a great throne. (23) "I found her and her people worshipping the sun instead of Allâh, and Shaitân (Satan) has made their deeds fair-seeming to them, and has barred them from (Allâh's) Way, so they have no guidance.”

The Hoopoe explained to Prophet Solomon what he saw. He mentioned that there is a woman called The Queen of Sheba in the land of Yemen who is beautiful, very wealthy, powerful, has strong influence over her people, owns a Great Throne and worships the Sun.
Prophet Solomon listened to his words and accepted the Hoopoe’s apology under a condition that the he must go to the Queen of Sheba and take with him a letter written by Prophet Solomon, and deliver it to Balqees. The letter is an invitation to Monotheism, to enter the religion of God.
Solomon said : Verse:
"We shall see whether you speak the truth or you are (one) of the liars (27) "Go with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them, then draw back from them, and see what (answer) they return."Hoopoe carried the letter as commanded and flew its way passing distances between Jerusalem, Palestine and Sheba. He gave the letter to Balqees that fell on her hands, frightened as it was written by the name of God, the Merciful.
She said:
Verse:
"O chiefs! Verily! Here is delivered to me a noble letter, (29) "Verily, It is from Sulaimân (Solomon), and verily, It (reads): In the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful; (30) "Do not rise up against me, but come to me in full submission”
And then she said: ‘If this is the Prophet of God as he claims to be, then we don’t have the strength to face him. We cannot destroy God, instead, I will send him gifts. If he is the King as he claims that lives a life in prosperity and wealth, he will then accept my gifts and from there I will know whether I have the same power against him.’
Balqees
She immediately arranged messengers to send a Great Jewel. She requested to deliver a message to Prophet Solomon as: ‘Say to him: The Queen will let you know how to pierce this Great Jewel.’
As powerful as Prophet Solomon was, a thread emerged from his mouth and pierced it on the Great Jewel and pulled it from the other side.
Prophet Solomon said;
Verse:
"Will you help me in wealth? What Allâh ( God ) has given me is better than that which He has given you! Nay, you rejoice in your gift!" (36) [Then Prophet Solomon) addressed the chief of her messengers who brought the present:

Verse:
"Go back to them. We verily shall come to them with troops that they cannot facet, and we shall drive them out from there in disgrace, and they will be abased."
(37)
The Chief messenger warned Queen Balqees of Prophet Solomon’s irresistible power and warned her to surrender.
She thought long before she made the decision to visit the Prophet and wrote: ‘I am coming to you with King’s Dress; and see everything that invites me to the religion. I am to ask several questions to test your Prophethood and Wisdom’
Loaded with gifts, she entered Jerusalem with camels carrying special gum, perfumes, gold and precious stones.
God informed Solomon about Balqees’ arrival, to the jinn and devils: He said:
Verse:
"O chiefs! Which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me surrendering themselves on obedience?”(38)
An Ifrît (strong one) from the jinn said: "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place (council). And verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work." (39) Solomon said: ‘I want faster than that.’ Asif'm Berechiah, the one with the knowledge of the Scripture said: "I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!", And so, Balqees Throne emerges with a blink.
Solomon said: "Disguise her throne for her that we may see whether she will be guided to recognize her throne”
Queen Balqees was welcomed by Prophet Solomon with great hospitality and reception specially prepared for her arrival.
Balqees
She was impressed on everything she saw when she entered the palace. She wondered what made the jinn to be of service for him. His palace was built using the very best in that era.

Verse:
(42-43)) So when she came, he said (to her): "Is your throne like this?"

She said: "It is exactly like it." And [Sulaimân (Solomon) said]: "Knowledge was bestowed on us before her, and we were submitted to Allâh (in Islâm as Muslims before her)."
Then Solomon ordered to arrange for Balqees a home in which the floor was made of crystal, and place it on top the water, and then said to her:

Verse:

(44)"Enter As-Sarh" , " [(a glass surface with water underneath it), but when she saw it, she suppose it to be a pool, she tucked up her dress uncovering her legs, Prophet Solomon said: "Verily, it is Sarh paved with glass. She said: "My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, and I submit (in Islâm, together with Prophet Solomon, to Allâh, the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists)."
Inspite of being from a land of sun worshippers, the Queen of Sheba was quite affected by the genuine manner of Prophet Solomon’s letter, his rational style, power and most impressive palace. All of this made her to believe and become a Muslim.
A union took place between Prophet Solomon and Queen Balqees that bring them a son.

Best Hotels in Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi hotel scene is on fire, with world beating hotels opening in Abu Dhabi, almost monthly, and so now the new hotels in Abu Dhabi that have launched in the last 5 years or so are now vying to the best Abu Dhabi hotels. But with many more hotels all in the offing, this best of list of hotels looks to be an ever changing list. Just as Abu Dhabi is changing, so the hotels scene changes with it - and as Abu Dhabi pitches itself as a luxury destination, the hotels are pitched in the same way. You only need to look at the recent additions to the hotel scene. Abu Dhabi, from a hotel perspective, has changed significantly in the last 10 years when there were only a handful of decent hotels around. There still aren't that many budget hotels is Abu Dhabi, but if you are looking for some of the best hotels around, some of the top 10 hotels in the UAE would come out of the top ten hotels in Abu Dhabi. But the question you are looking at is this: which hotels in Abu Dhabi are the best hotels in Abu Dhabi? Or indeed, which is the best hotel in Abu Dhabi. Well, everyone has a best choice, whether it is the hotels with the best service, or most exclusive hotel, or even the most expensive hotel, but the best hotels will usually be among the most popular hotels in Abu Dhabi. What we have tried to do is put together a number of lists of hotels to get to the elusive list, based on the hotels we have visited .We may not have stayed at all the hotels, but we certainly have a view on every single hotel that we recommend. And because we are impartial, we have only included the very best hotels here. As better hotels come to market, we will review and update list, where appropriate. But bear in mind that just because a hotel is new, doesn't mean that it will automatically join the list. There needs to be something of a "wow factor" to it.

And now that Abu Dhabi is competing with Dubai as a destination, Abu Dhabi competes with Dubai for hotels. It's simple - as a destination, Abu Dhabi needs to be different and best at different things. Well, proof is in the pudding. We would love to hear from you once you have visted some of the hotels on out list and tell us whether they are any good. Hopefully they aren't the worst hotels you will stay at - and hopefully they will be one of the best, not just best in Abu Dhabi, but best ever.

There are lots of hotel deals that you can check, but we have tried to give you some different options, looking not just at the best hotels or luxury hotels, but we have considered the other end of the scale to give you a view of the budget hotels in Abu Dhabi as well as more mid range hotels. Finally, we have an alternative list which hopefully provide you with another option to check other reviews and do more research as you find the hotel that meets your need. But, let's be frank, hotels in Abu Dhabi are expensive, so there has to be another choice, unless you can get a great deal. There are often deal on hotels in Abu Dhabi, so it's worth looking around, so that you don't blow your budget at where you will be sleeping. And our list can't be all things to all people - people will disagree - and that's great - all part of the discussion and debate. Your review may be different to ours, but it's ok to have an opinion!

We haven't created a list for 7 star hotels in Abu Dhabi, because there is officially only one 7 star hotel in Abu Dhabi, which is the Emirates Palace. And at $3bn, you would have thought so. But many of the 5 star hotels are superior hotels and sit neatly in a class together. Of course there aren't as many Abu Dhabi hotels as there are Dubai ones, but in 10 years time, that may be different, just because Abu Dhabi is larger, with many islands. In the meantime, you can go through our top ten abu dhabi hotels list knowing that that you have a decent cross section of hotels in Abu Dhabi.

And finally, these hotels are personal choices, so please do research before you book your hotel. These Abu Dhabi lists of hotels are as much about determining the best ones as they are about giving some direction to the new traveller to Abu Dhabi, booking theith hotel for the first time. Hopefully, we have given some clarity to your reesearch and that are eventually able to pick the right hotel in Abu Dhabi that makes your stay a special one.
Abu Dhabi Hotels are up and coming with many 5 star hotels in Abu Dhabi getting notice globally. Why? Abu Dhabi is on the up and with millions of visitors every year. The emirate is becoming a hot competitor of Dubai with its new 2km public beach and fantastic choice of trendy restaurants and bars. From a hotel persective, Abu Dhabi are aiming to be the best and from a relatively slow and low key start, some of the best hotels in the world are popping up in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is such an ambitious city; it is striving to keep fans returning by planning a host of new developments such as the Louvre and Guggenheim Museums on Saadiyat Island and a lineup of impressive events scheduled throughout the year including the Abu Dhabi Gold Championship and the anuual Formula 1 Grand Prix amongst many more.

In order to help you shortlist, we’ve compiled our preferred Abu Dhabi establishments. This list of Abu Dhabi hotels based on luxury. These are the best hotels in Abu Dhabi, and these Top 10 Hotels are all 5 star hotels in Abu Dhabi. As we have said before - for those who want to know how many 7 star hotels are there in Abu Dhabi - there is only one supposed 7 star hotel - and that is the Emirates Palace - which is why, at this point in time, it sits at the top of the list

These 5 star Abu Dhabi hotels are all high quality. You may not agree with our top 10 hotels in Abu Dhabi. However, what we do honestly believe is that the majority of these hotels should be in the top 10 hotels Abu Dhabi list - and we are sure you will agree with that. The next thing is to search for the best deal to go and stay in Abu Dhabi! Here is our list of hotels in Abu Dhabi - the top hotels in Abu Dhabi.

1. Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi

If you ever wondered what it was like to be treated like royalty – head to the Kempinski Emirates Palacefor a taster. Renowned as the world’s classiest and costliest hotel, it has placed no limits on expensive marble, gold and stunning interiors. Yes, this is the hotel that cost $3bn to make - that was the most expensive hotel in the world to build at the time. And this is the best hotel in Abu Dhabi! The Emirates Palace is probably also the best known in Abu Dhabi - when pictures of the largest suite circulated around the internet at launch stating this was actually the Sheikh's palace and not a hotel. Dignatories stay here as well as the famous celebs, because it is luxury. It also has the best beach in Abu Dhabi which is reserved for those staying at the hotel. The hotel is open to view and has some great restaurants if you can't experience the luxury by staying there yourself, but

2. The Yas Hotel, Abu Dhabi, Yas Island

One of the newest kids on the block, the Yas hotel is a sideways step into design albeit positive! The hotel had its grand opening at the end of 2009 with the inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix and has been flying since. The Yas Island complex is predicted to be the hot new destination as most of its planned outlets will be completed such as Ferrari World. The Yas hotel appeals to anyone who loves trend, funk and ingenious design. Its careful planning has ensured things like viewing the famous racetrack and yachts can be done from all restaurant terraces. Eateries are top class and ample choice to please any taste bud. Hotel facilities include a very state of the art gym which is also has a men and women section, a beautiful spa, two sparkling pools, a yacht club and golf course. The rooms and bathrooms are creatively decorated and give you a feel of jealousy! Oh, and great service. Just bear in mind your location. You are on Yas Island, not mainland Abu Dhabi. Eight excellent restaurants and bars including a steakhouse by Marco Pierre White and for the chocolate fans – a chocolate studio to sample chocolate making from conception! If you like contemporary, funky, an ample sized private beach and close proximity to the city centre, this could be the break for you. The Fairmont is a personal favourite. It oozes quality, but does not go over the top - and so therefore is comfortable. Think friendly service rather than snootiness. Couple that with the open air feel and internal design, this is a great spot to to both experience Abu Dhabi and relax. The Fairmont Hotel is 15 minutes from the malls and the city, and just round the corner from the Sheikh Zayed Mosque.

4. Shangri La Hotel Abu Dhabi

As you know Shangri-La hotels are a known quantity - great quality and great service. This one doesn't disappoint.

5. Intercontinental Hotel Abu Dhabi

One of the oldest hotels in Abu Dhabi, the Intercontinental has been extensively refurbished and has the benefit of being set in one of the most beautiful parklands - theIntercontinental has its own private beach and marina with stunning views of the Arabian Gulf. So, don't let the fact that it's been around for ages deter you - it's managed to get the best location before people even knew about Abu Dhabi. And before the new hotels if Abu Dhabi came on the scene, this was easily the best hotel in Abu Dhabi. It is conveniently located in a quiet part of Abu Dhabi city and only a 10 minute taxi ride away from the main business district and shopping malls. Facilities are what you’d expect including seven restaurants, pools, health club and a trendy nightclub frequented by the hot shots of Abu Dhabi. You're also very close to the hubub of Abu Dhabi.

6. Beach Rotana, Abu Dhabi

As well as being a luxury hotel, the central location is the key selling point of the Beach Rotana hotel. Set on the shore, all 413 rooms have a sea view. Additionally, this hotel has its own private access to the hustle and bustle of Abu Dhabi Mall – great for the high heat season when you don’t have to step outside to hit the shops. A great business hotel for when you are not in your room all the time. It's 5 star quality, but the rooms are slightly smaller than the rest of the Abu Dhabi Hotels, but that's because it is so centrally located. The entrance hall of the Beach Rotana is amazing!

7. Al Raha Beach Hotel, Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi’s first boutique hotel opened in 2005 and is located about 20 minutes away from Abu Dhabi city and 45 minutes from Dubai. It’s perfect for those who don’t want to be at the heart of Abu Dhabi city yet close enough to enjoy the delights of downtown shopping and entertainment. 8. Sheraton Hotel, Abu Dhabi

This beautifully looking Sheraton hotelis situated on the corniche overlooking the Arabian Gulf. It is located in Abu Dhabi city close to the business district, shopping areas and famous Abu Dhabi mall. The hotel has its own private beach together with picturesque pools and health club. There are a good choice of food outlets and a funky nightclub too. Sheraton manages to maintain that balance of being exquisite but homely at the same time. Its only downside is being stuck in bay engulfed by the road, but we love it anyway!

9. Le Royal Meridien Hotel Abu Dhabi

Le Royal Meridien has the benefit of being centrally located to the main business and shopping areas with the added joy that all rooms face the sea. The rooms are tastefully decorated with super comfy beds Hermes toiletries. Be sure to check out the revolving rooftop restaurant which if requested, can rotate the opposite way if preferred! There's obviously no beach, but this is a great business hotel and doesn't profess to be anything else

10. Millennium Hotel, Abu Dhabi

The Millenium is your generic business hotel. It really caters to that business crowd and it doesn’t do anything wrong in that respect. It’s pretty centrally located, and the rooms are great – the only downside is that it doesn’t have a beach, but with the public beach available and if you have the time, you can easily go elsewhere.

11. Grand Millennium Al Wahda Hotel, Abu Dhabi

The newest hotel in Abu Dhabi (but probably not for long), this massive hotel is giving its sister hotel, the Millennium, a run for its money. Based in Al Wahda, a short walk from the mall, and already providing high end service, the future looks bright for the Grand Millennium – a great business hotel for central Abu Dhabi. Although currently dry, we hear there are changes on the horizon.

12. Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan

The jury is out on the newRayhaan. It does seem to be a great dry business hotel (no alcohol) and you could probably get a great deal as it is so new. As with all new hotels, there are teething problems, but no doubt this will sort itself out. The pool is very nice.

Abu Dhabi is bringing on a whole heap of hotels over the coming years - and they're all aiming for niche audiences, and some are just aiming to be the best. That's not to say that the selection above doesn't offer choice. Quite the opposite - there are amazing hotels available and quite possibly many of these top ten Abu Dhabi hotels will remain in the top ten for many years, especially the Fairmont or the Yas Hotels for example. The 5 star hotels in Abu Dhabi are discriminating - they are a level above the other hotels and you will notice the difference - the newer 5 star hotels and the refurbished ones are all ready for a new Abu Dhabi and look and feel ready for the growing crowds that have started to spend their winters here. Of course the top hotels in Abu Dhabi are luxury in nature and come with the price to match. But if you can get a hotel deal that includes bed and breakfast, you can enjoy great cuisine elsewhere in Abu Dhabi both cheap and expensive.
One point of note, the hotels in abudabi are changing all the time and this list of Abu Dhabi Hotels (abudabi - as some people insist on spelling it!) is changing all the time. We would love to hear your comments about the hotels - and as we put together our 2011 to 2012 list, we will be sure to include them. Above all, we hope that you pick the right hotel for you - one that meets your budget, and makes your trip to Abu Dhabi memorable. It's sure to be!

Noise Pollution Facts

Noise pollution is basically any form of noise which has potential to disrupt the normal functioning of any natural ecosystem or some human community.

The main sources of noise pollution are coming from transportation and construction systems.

Noise pollution is not only causing environmental damage but it also has negative impact on human health as it can cause conditions such as aggression, hypertension, high stress levels, hearing loss, sleep disturbances, etc.

Noise pollution is especially serious issue in our seas and oceans, especially for creatures such as dolphins and whales. Noise pollution has very negative impact on hearing sense of these animals, which makes certain activities of these species such as hunting for prey and navigation very difficult.

Noise pollution in our oceans is constantly increasing because of the increased ship traffic and also because of offshore oil drilling.

In United States still doesn't exist the specific body that would regulate noise pollution on federal level.  Unwanted noise causes species to communicate louder which is known as Lombard effect.

Noise pollution can be tackled by many different methods such as by using noise barriers, limiting vehicle speeds, alteration of roadway surface texture, limitation of heavy vehicles, using special type of tires, etc.

Many people still do not regard noise pollution as serious issue that needs more attention on local, state and international level but more like some type of annoyance which isn't so serious. This is the main reason why there are many cities in the world that do not have a single law to regulate noise.  World without the excessive noise pollution coming from human sources would be a much quieter and much more beautiful place to be.

12 Most Important Things About Life

Life is defined as "the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body or inanimate matter" by Merriam Webster but it seems an individual's experiences shape, mold, and define living. Modern societies, whose focus is generally forward thinking and concentrated on progress, often neglect to address precisely what components (beyond things) make life livable.
The foundational things that bring us deep and lasting happiness as human beings are often ignored by economies and markets in favor of fleeting, tempting, often destructive (i.e. stress, obesity, broken relationships etc.) instant gratification. But the best things in life take effort and work and time.
Here's our list of 12 Most Important Things In Life:

1. Love

Love is the strongest force humans possess. It is the act of lifting others up, rather than tearing them down. Love is what bonds us together and allows us to accomplish great things. It brings lovers together, and keeps families together.
A society that forgets the importance of love ultimately sacrifices it's own soul and guarantees its collapse.

2. Peace

Peace is best understood as the absence of physical and spiritual turmoil. We need peace between nations and peace within families but in order to do this, we must find peace within ourselves.
Peace is characterized by calm and tranquility. It is a state in which the human soul flourishes.

3. Wisdom

Wisdom is the understanding of people, things, events, and experiences. Wisdom requires the ability to comprehend what is true and right coupled with the ability to effectively apply knowledge and sound judgment to apply principle, reason, and intellect in one's thoughts and actions.
Wisdom requires one to control emotion and allow insight to prevail. Every experience and interaction with others allows us to inherit wisdom through time, learning, and educational pursuits.

4. Respect

Respect is a very specific feeling or esteem for a person, group, or entity based upon ethic, honor, authority, and fundamental importance. Respect is based upon a positive feeling or action for one's self and others. Respect is conveyed through speech, manner of address, style, and one's actions.
Respect is one of the most important aspects of life as it requires understanding, non-violence, trust, and responsibility.

5. Generosity

Generosity is the practice of giving freely without any expectation of reciprocation. Generosity is one of the most priceless virtues given to help, assist, or guide anyone in need by using one's time, talents, resources, or assets.
Generosity is the founding block of charity, but not dependent upon one's economic resources. True generosity is one of the purest intentions, derived from the very noble passion to help others. Generosity is also one of life's greatest gifts, as gifts from the heart are priceless.

6. Appreciation

Appreciation is one of the most powerful positive emotions or attitudes to acknowledge a kindness received. Appreciation is a virtue requiring gratitude and thankfulness to those who improve and enrich our lives with their words, actions, and assistance.

People who live in a constant state of appreciation are often happier, less depressed, less stressed and more satisfied. Living in a state of appreciation allows one to remain positive during the more troublesome days and truly be thankful for every experience.

7. Forgiveness

Forgiveness is defined as "granting free pardon to give up all claim on account of an offense or debt." Forgiveness requires the often difficult process of concluding resentment, ceasing anger, and resigning indignation regarding an offense, difference, or mistake. Forgiveness extends not only to ourselves, but also to the offender. Forgiveness is often granted without the expectation of restorative justice or restitution, though often an offender will acknowledge the wrong doing with an apology or request for forgiveness.
The practice of forgiveness is one of the most important things about life and often the most difficult.

8. Honesty

Honesty is the ability to face the truth with integrity, straightforwardness, and moral character. Honesty is considered a positive, virtuous attribute and thrives in the absence of cheating, lying, and theft. Honesty requires individuals to be truthful despite personal gain, the ability to act rightfully based on how an individual would like to be treated in return, and sincere empathy toward others despite differences in age, gender, culture, status, and experience.

9. Integrity

Integrity is the essential consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes while applying honesty and truthfulness. Integrity is a virtue often exercised with behavior and morality in three steps: by discerning the difference between right and wrong, acting on the discernment despite personal risks, and opening stating the understanding of right from wrong.

10. Patience

Patience is the steadfast level of endurance an individual's character can maintain when presented with difficult circumstances, events, experiences, or situations. Patience is perseverance despite delay or provocation and the ability to wait out strain when faced with negativity while withholding action and negativity in the form of annoyance or anger.
Patience empowers individuals to withstand difficulties and is a tremendous reservoir to draw from life.

11. Compassion

Deep empathy is one of the unique cognitive skills that humans possess. It is the ability to understand and care about the needs of others by putting ourselves in their shoes.
Compassion allows us to love in a full and satisfying way. It is the principle behind the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

12. Laughter

Laughter not only makes us feel good, but it's actually good for us. Studies show that laughter lessens stress, improves mood, reduces depression and has many other health benefits. Laughter helps us to not take ourselves too seriously. It helps us to bond with others. It helps us to love. It is the bedrock of community. The family that laughs together, stays together.

Why Firewall Is Important For Your Computer

When it comes to PC security, firewall plays a very crucial role. There are wide and diverse array of malware on the web that are designed to invade your computer and stop you from enjoying safe and hassle-free computing. A firewall is a security system that plays the role of a protective boundary between your PC and the network. The job of a firewall is to make your system invisible to online attackers as well as malicious objects like Trojan horses, viruses, and worms, etc. there are many computer repair companies that offer remote PC support to the computer users for troubleshooting any and all types of PC issues.

If there is a firewall on your computer and it is turned on, your computer will be less vulnerable to malicious objects. While your computer is connected to the Internet, if there is no firewall, hackers can easily gain access to your personal information on your PC. To steal your personal information, they install code on your computer. Not just that, hackers also use your PC to cause problems on other systems connected to the Internet.
The first step to protect your computer against hackers is to install a firewall and turn it on.

Windows Firewall is built in PC security product that comes with Windows to protect computer and all its operations. All Microsoft operating systems like Microsoft Windows XP, Window Server 2003, and Windows Vista and Windows 7 has this feature inbuilt. It acts as a protective boundary and stop intruders to peep into your computer and privacy.

Windows Firewall is automatically turned on by default. If you want, you can switch it off or customize its settings if necessary. There are also several renowned companies that offer Firewall protection software. Some of the notable brands are Symantec, Sonic Wall, etc. You need to buy these third party firewalls.
While you run a program and if it requires information from the Web or a network, the firewall will ask whether to block or unblock the connection. And as per your instruction, it will act. It is very important to configure the firewall properly. This is done to let it know what kind of connections you want to block for your network.
Remember that a firewall might not make your computer 100 % safe and secure but it provides the most effective first line of defense. It is recommended to install a firewall first, and then add other security measures. These include antivirus and antispyware programs as well as critical software updates. If all these are done properly, then your PC is safe and your can enjoy secure computing.
